Mockingjay: Part 2 continues right where part 1 left off, continues the momentum already started and it doesn’t stop.  There is precious little down time in this film and what little there is serves  to build the tension and suspense.  Katniss Everdeen is ever the political pawn being used by President Snow, whom she has vowed to kill, and president of the rebel resistance Alma Coin.  It has been a game of push and pull, cat and mouse between those two and it seems our plucky heroine Katniss is none the worse for wear because of it.  No matter what they throw at her and her band of compatriots who are off to storm the capital, and they throw a LOT at them (fire corridors, black ooze, and CHUD like Mutts), Katniss comes out strong.  You definitely feel that the weight of the world has been put on her young shoulders.  Everyone is looking to her for so much, and she truly never sought any of this out.  Jennifer Lawrence continues to give a stellar performance as the girl on fire turned political pawn.  Josh Hutcherson as the unstable Peeta also gives a good effort.  We’re never sure we can trust him after his brainwashing by the government.  Is he a help or a hindrance, especially as a point in the triangle between him, Katniss and her hunky admirer Gale, played by  Liam Hemsworth? Film legend Donald Sutherland seethes evil as the ill-fated President Snow, and Julianne Moore’s President Coin totally turns on what you thought you could expect from her from part one.  This film also has the last screen performance of Phillip Seymour Hoffman and he definitely does not disappoint.
Mockingjay: Part 2 is a no-brainer if you saw part one.  It’s all the same movie but that pause you put it on lasted one year instead of 10 minutes.  If you simply cannot wait, see it now; everyone else, if you’ve waited this long, you can wait a little longer till Netflix.
